The Marabou Park, City of Sundbyberg
The Marabou Park is a very popular park, hidden behind buildings and trees, in the center of the municipality and city of Sundbyberg.
The park appeals to many different visitors since it has got a lot of different activities to offer. Such as a restaurant, sculptures in the park and inside the art gallery, sunny lawns and shady areas filled with rhododendrons and magnolias, different plantings with perennials and annuals, a smaller pond with waterlilies, a swimming pool for children, a summer library and a playground.
The park was developed as a recreation area for the employees at the Marabou Chocolate plant by its director Henning Throne-Holst. Between 1937-1955, renowned landscape architect Sven Hermelin worked on the park. It is unusual for a park created during the industrial era to survive for as long as the Marabou Park has. In the year 2008 it was named the most beautiful park in Sweden.
