Malmö is known as “The city of parks” with it’s beautiful parks with small lakes and network of canals.
Within walking distance of the centre there is a beach that stretches for several kilometres, bordered by broad, green spaces. Several events and activities have taken place here.

Malmö offers both traditional historical parks and newer parks with exciting meeting places. Many parks have in recent years got outdoor gyms, free of charge and open to everyone. In Malmö there are also several skateboard parks.

The oldest city park is Kungsparken which was laid out in 1878. The park has a romantic character. Here you can enjoy nice walks, beautiful works of art and exotic trees.

Pildammsparken is another shining example built on the site of the 1914 Baltic exhibition hosted in the city. Pildammsparken’s special history and strong neoclassical design make it unique among northern European parks. By planning in different stages, an interesting park has been created.

Slottsträdgården is an open, organic garden where it is possible to follow the seasons with themed gardens of differing styles and functions.

The Western Harbour is the area which has had the most effect on urban renewal and regeneration in Malmö. High quality investments in architecture and landscape architecture have produced attractive urban spaces. The 200 metre high Turning Torso, designed by Santiago Calatrava, is the city’s new landmark and is surrounded by important new parks and bathing areas.
