Katrinetorp Manor, in an idyllic, lush green setting, is situated in the outskirts of Malmö near the Öresund Bridge. The Manor was built at the beginning of the 1800s for one of Malmö’s wealthiest merchant families. It is a country estate made up of gardens and an English landscape park. Katrinetorp is one of the best-preserved Empire style manors in Sweden. The buildings and garden have undergone careful restoration and are today used for various types of activities and meetings. The east wing houses a café and restaurant. What was once the backyard of the barn has been converted into an Italian-inspired outdoor café.

The Formal Garden
The garden next to the main building and below the terrace was a Baroque ornamental garden. Yews, cypresses, roses, decorative urns and benches were all important elements in this strictly symmetrical area of the garden.

The Rose Garden
The rose garden was planted in 2000 and is situated within the formal garden. It includes statues of the two goddesses Venus and Aurora. A wealth of different sorts of roses, old and new, offer visitors a fragrance-filled treat.

The Kitchen Garden
The kitchen garden is centrally situated, directly adjacent with the formal garden and the English landscape park. It was designed in accordance with a French model and is divided into sixteen separate blocks. This part of Katrinetorp is one of the largest historic kitchen gardens in Sweden, with all of the plants having a historic connection.

The Conservatory Garden
This part of the garden is enclosed on all sides by the main building, the east wing, whitewashed walls and a beech hedge, thus harbouring as much heat as possible. All of the most exotic plants were placed here. The actual conservatory was reconstructed in 2005.

The English Landscape Park
For more than a hundred years the park was in a slumber until, in 2002, the process of thinning the existing trees was started. Then the paths were restored and two bridges rebuilt to cross the serpentine lake. In 2009 the park reacquired two of its former buildings, an antique-inspired pavilion and a Chinioiserie-style gazebo. Thereafter, the landscape architect Kolbjörn Waern (Waern Landskap) devised a development plan for the whole park. The work has been started and will be continued in different phases over the next few years.
