FREDRIKSDAL MUSEUMS AND GARDENS
In central Helsingborg lies Fredriksdal Museums and Gardens, an oasis of greenery in the heart of the city. Fredriksdal is an open-air museum spread across 36 hectares, built around a manor from 1787. Here, you’ll find the original buildings, historical parks, an extensive organic-certified kitchen and fruit garden, older rural homesteads, an historical farm with meadows, fields, and heritage livestock, an old city quarter from central Helsingborg, and a botanical garden featuring plants and habitats native to Scania. There’s also one of Sweden’s largest rose gardens with over 1,500 roses blooming from May until frost, with the peak beauty during the month of July. In the herb garden and utility plant garden, you can explore plants that have been useful and enjoyable for humans throughout history, and in the systematic garden, you can learn about wild flora.
Fredriksdal Museums and Gardens also serve as a local clonal archive for fruits, kitchen plants, perennials, bulb plants, roses, and is a part of the National Gene Bank.
Throughout the year, there are many events at Fredriksdal. Visit fredriksdal.se for current exhibitions and activities.
