FREDRIKSDAL MUSEUMS AND GARDENS – Open air museum and botanical garden in Helsingborg

Rare and endangered species found outside the entrance gates are preserved and nurtured here at Fredriksdal’s open air museum and botanical gardens. We are the guardians of plants and domestic animals that have all but disappeared from the modern agricultural milieu. We maintain the old town quarter with its timber-frame houses, storefronts and workshops as well as taking care of the heritage roses and their enchanting fragrances. At Fredriksdal, you will find the rich crop diversity of a bygone era replete with kale, beans, apples and cherries – what nowadays inspires top chefs in their kitchens. The Scanian speckled hen, unaware of its endangerment, pecks about, laying eggs and waking up every morning to the call of the rooster.

Learning to live together with the natural environment and in harmony with nature is becoming increasingly important in our modern society. Here at Fredriksdal, we gladly share knowledge of old and new ways of farming and living a sustainable life. Join us and discover how wonderful nature can be!
