Bosjökloster Castle and Gardens is a popular excursion destination, beautifully situated on a peninsula in Lake Ringsjö, in the middle of Scania. The exhibitions, gardens and park offer a wonderfully relaxing environment, with plenty to discover for the whole family.

Bosjökloster’s 900-year history is connected to events, culture and social development from the Middle Ages to the present. The 12th century castle was originally founded as a Benedictine convent for nuns. After the Reformation 400 years later, Bosjökloster passed into private ownership. Current managers and owners are the Bonde family.

People have long been attracted to Bosjökloster’s unique environment, with the view of the lake, the ‘thousand-year-old’ oak and the old walls that whisper of times gone by. In collaboration with nurseries, Ellen Bonde remodeled parts of the gardens in the early 1960s, then formally opened and welcomed visitors to the castle grounds.

Experience the gardens from the spring flowering bulbs, shrubs, rhododendrons, azaleas to the summer and autumn rose splendor, with over 100 different varieties of remontant roses, giant beds with perennials and dahlias. The small herb garden with medieval spices and medicinal plants is a reference to the nuns’ self-sufficient cultivations, medical care and the new knowledge of cultivation that came with the Christian missionaries to the north.

The garden café as well as the exhibitions in the castle and the Cultural Stable are open May – September. The park is open to visitors every day of the year.

A warm welcome to Bosjökloster Castle & Gardens!
